Bustec Announces Low-Cost PCI Express VXI Slot-0 Interface

ProDAQ 3026 Provides a High Throughput and Low Latency Solution to Replace Legacy VXI Interfaces

ESCONDIDO, Calif. – September 12, 2011 – Bustec announced today the ProDAQ 3026, a single-slot, C-size, VXIbus slot-0 to PCI Express interface. With low latency and up to 40 MB/s throughput, the ProDAQ 3026 provides a low-cost solution for replacing legacy VXI interfaces. The new interface enables arbitrary power on/off order of host PC and chassis, is optimized for low first-word latency, and is available with interfaces for PCI- and PCI Express-based computers.

“The ProDAQ 3026 is a low-cost PCIe VXI Slot-0 interface for applications that do not require the 320 MB/s throughput or optional LXI triggering of the ProDAQ 3030,” said Fred Bloennigen, CEO of Bustec. “This new VXI Controller delivers flexibility alongside market-leading throughput and latency performance, showing Bustec’s continued investment to innovating on the VXI platform. Our line of products allows our mil/aero customers to reliably sustain their test systems, as well as design new high-performance VXI and hybrid systems.”

The ProDAQ 3026 supports PCI Express hot-plug functionality, allowing engineers to power up a host PC simultaneously or independently from any and all VXI chassis. Unlike other interfaces that require engineers to power down a host PC before turning off a VXI chassis, the ProDAQ 3026 allows engineers to power off any VXI chassis to interchange instruments without having to shut down the host PC, ultimately saving time.

Up to two ProDAQ 3026 interfaces can be connected directly to the ProDAQ 3261 PCI Express host interface card, which fits into a standard PCI Express x4 slot in a desktop or server computer. For a desktop or server computer with PCI bus slots only, the ProDAQ 3262 provides a PCI-to-PCI Express bridge in addition to the PCI Express cable interface. It fits into a standard PCI slot and also allows up to two ProDAQ 3026 to be connected.

Bustec Family of VXIbus Slot-0 Interfaces and Controllers offers a Range of Capabilities

As a leading manufacturer of VXI slot-0s and data acquisition instrumentation, Bustec played a key role in driving the VXI-1 Revision 4.0 standard. The first VXI controller to support the new VXI-1 Rev. 4.0 standard, the ProDAQ 3000 Series ProDAQ 3030 interface, fully supports 2eSST transfers, delivering up to 320 MB/s of throughput and latency of less than 500 nsec for single word transfers.

Earlier this year, Lockheed Martin selected the BustecProDAQ 3030 VXI slot-0 interface for its new electronic Consolidated Automated Support System (eCASS). With the ProDAQ VXI interface, Lockheed Martin can deliver a test system capable of testing modern aircraft electronics, achieving LXI triggering, reducing test time, and maintaining compatibility with existing hardware and software of the previous-generation system.

About Bustec

Bustec is a leading supplier of high-performance data acquisition and test products. Bustec products and solutions lead the test and measurement industry in accuracy, throughput, and density, offering up to 10x higher accuracy than new products from competitors.

Bustec offers data acquisition solutions for LXI and VXI and uses the same function card modules interchangeably in carriers for both platforms. Function card modules include options for analog I/O including conditioning for ICP and strain, as well as digital I/O, serial, and counter/timers. Bustec tools address applications that have needs for accuracy of static signals such as voltage, temperature, and pressure, or dynamic signals acquired at higher speeds, as well as closed loop control and simulation. Bustec products successfully serve applications that include engine testing, automotive and missile testing, wind tunnel data acquisition and control, acoustics, vibration applications, aircraft component testing, and a wide range of other demanding applications.

"With Bustec, from the delivery of the products to the quality of the hardware, software, and support, we are actually getting more functionality for a decreased price."
