The ProDAQ 3630 Function Card is a high speed, intelligent, four-channel serial
interface card. It supports asynchronous based communication protocols, as well as isochronous
transmission. The front-end drivers/receivers can be programmed to operate compliant to
different serial standards independently for each channel. RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, V.35, RS-449,
EIA-530 and V.36 modes are available.
The ProDAQ 3630 function card supports fully customizable baudrates: a base clock frequency for
all four channels can be set with resolution better than 1 Hz. This clock can then be scaled
independently for each channel inside the UART chip to generate the desired baudrate up to a
resolution of better than 0.03 Hz.
The ProDAQ 3630 supports 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9-bits data framing, what makes it useful in industrial
multidrop applications. Automated in-band flow control (Xon/Xoff characters) and out-of-band
flow control (CTS/RTS and DSR/DTR) does not require host intervention.
The on-board DSP is user-programmable and allows the implementation of layered protocols directly
on the function card. Together with the large buffer memory of 4 MB this can reduce the host load
significantly.
For fast data streaming applications of up to 12.5 Mbps asynchronously and 16 Mbps isochronously
the card is equipt with 6 kWord FIFO buffers independently for each channels and transmission
direction. Mailbox registers are used for the host communication.
