High-Density, Fully Isolated Digital Input for Complex Test Facilities

Modern test facilities—particularly in aerospace, propulsion, and industrial environments—often rely on hundreds of discrete digital signals to monitor system status, safety interlocks, limit switches, relays, and fault indicators. As test systems scale, managing these signals reliably becomes increasingly complex, especially in electrically noisy environments.

The ProDAQ 6111 Isolated Digital Input LXI Instrument is designed to address this challenge by providing 256 independent, galvanically isolated digital input channels within a single, network-connected LXI platform. By combining high channel density, robust electrical isolation, and synchronized operation, the ProDAQ 6111 enables reliable large-scale digital monitoring without the wiring complexity and noise susceptibility of traditional solutions.

High-Density Digital Acquisition in a Compact Form Factor

The ProDAQ 6111 supports 256 digital input channels, each operating independently and isolated from both the chassis and all other channels. This architecture allows a wide range of external sensors and digital devices to be connected safely and reliably within a single instrument.

Each input channel supports logic-high levels from 5 V to 24 V, with logic-low levels defined between 0 and 1.5 V. An input impedance of at least 3 kΩ ensures compatibility with diverse sensor types and digital interfaces commonly found in large test installations. All channels are updated simultaneously with a 1 kHz system update rate, enabling fast detection of state changes across the entire input set

By consolidating hundreds of digital inputs into a single 1U instrument, the ProDAQ 6111 significantly reduces system footprint, cabling complexity, and integration effort compared to multi-module or distributed digital input solutions.

Electrical Isolation for Reliable Operation

Electrical noise, ground potential differences, and switching transients are common challenges in large test facilities. The ProDAQ 6111 addresses these issues through galvanic isolation rated up to 300 V, applied channel-to-channel and channel-to-chassis.

This isolation allows each digital input to float independently, eliminating ground loops and minimizing the risk of cross-channel interference. As a result, digital state information remains stable and reliable even in environments with large inductive loads, RF emissions, or rapidly switching equipment.

Networking, Synchronization, and Control

Designed as a standalone LXI instrument, the ProDAQ 6111 connects directly to standard Ethernet networks and supports multiple control and integration options. The instrument includes two redundant Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Base-TX), improving network reliability in mission-critical installations.

Multiple ProDAQ 6111 units can be synchronized using the IEEE-1588 Precision Time Protocol, enabling coordinated digital input acquisition across distributed systems. Control and data access are provided through SCPI over VXI-11 (VISA), TCP/IP, and an integrated web interface, allowing both automated and interactive operation

Industrial-Grade Reliability and Deployment Flexibility

The ProDAQ 6111 is engineered for continuous operation in demanding environments. It features a redundant AC power supply supporting 85–264 V AC input, helping maintain uptime in the event of a power supply failure. The instrument operates reliably across a temperature range of 5 °C to +50 °C, with storage capability down to −40 °C

Housed in a 19-inch, 1U enclosure, the ProDAQ 6111 can be rack-mounted using the ProDAQ 5725 kit or deployed as a desktop unit with the ProDAQ 5726 tabletop feet set. This flexibility allows the instrument to be integrated into both permanent test racks and temporary or mobile test setups.

Designed for Large-Scale Digital Monitoring

In complex test systems, digital signals often represent critical operational states rather than simple on/off indicators. By aggregating 256 isolated digital inputs into a single, synchronized data stream, the ProDAQ 6111 simplifies system architecture while improving measurement robustness and maintainability.

Whether used as part of a distributed LXI system or as a standalone digital monitoring solution, the ProDAQ 6111 provides a scalable and electrically robust foundation for large-scale digital input measurement.
