Description

The ProDAQ 3261 PCIe Host Interface Card is engineered to bridge high-performance ProDAQ 3030 VXIbus modules to a standard PC’s PCIe slot. Occupying a single standard-height, half-length slot, it installs into any PCIe x4 (or larger) expansion slot and provides two external PCIe x4 cable connectors for attaching ProDAQ 3030 devices .

At its core is a dedicated microcontroller that functions as a PCIe root complex for the connected ProDAQ 3030 modules. This intelligent controller handles enumeration, hot-plug detection, and re-enumeration, allowing each module to be inserted or removed (and even power-cycled) independently of the host computer’s OS or hardware configuration . A PCIe switch on the ProDAQ 3261 routes each external port back to the microcontroller via a non-transparent port. Through a memory-window address translation, the non-transparent port presents the fully enumerated device tree of all attached ProDAQ 3030 modules to the host. Since the host sees only the non-transparent endpoint, it does not attempt to scan further downstream, ensuring no conflict with the host’s native PCIe topology .

Physically, the card measures 167.65 mm × 111.15 mm and draws power from the 3.3 V and 12 V rails of the host slot (current and power consumption are specified as TBD mA @ 3.3 V, TBD mA @ 12 V, and a maximum power draw of TBD W) . It operates reliably across an ambient temperature range of 5 °C to +50 °C (storage down to –40 °C, up to +70 °C) and 10 %–90 % non-condensing humidity .

Software support is provided via a VISA library compatible with both Windows and Linux platforms (details available from Bustec Ltd.). A 12-month warranty is included, with options for extension under additional cost . This design ensures that engineers and test-system integrators can extend their PC-based test setups seamlessly with multiple ProDAQ 3030 front-end modules, enabling flexible, high-density data-acquisition configurations without worrying about host reboots or PCIe topology limitations.
