Description

The ProDAQ 6716 is a 16-channel bridge signal conditioning unit with Ethernet, designed for high-accuracy measurement of strain gage and IEPE sensors in demanding test and measurement applications. Housed in a 1U rack-mount chassis for standard 19-inch systems, it provides a compact and flexible front-end for precision structural and dynamic signal acquisition.

The ProDAQ 6716 supports full-bridge, half-bridge, and quarter-bridge configurations as standard, enabling flexible connection of a wide range of strain-based sensors. Built-in 120 Ω and 350 Ω precision resistors, together with sockets for user-installable resistors, allow adaptable bridge completion for application-specific requirements.

Each channel provides programmable excitation up to 20 V, with independently adjustable positive and negative excitation rails to support accurate bridge operation and allow the common mode point to be optimised for improved measurement accuracy. Remote sense lines automatically compensate for voltage drops caused by lead resistance, helping maintain precise excitation at the sensor. Excitation can also be read back and calibrated for improved system accuracy.

To support demanding measurement environments, each channel includes a trifilar common mode filter for rejection of high-frequency common mode interference, along with programmable gain settings to support a wide range of input levels. AC and DC coupling are provided as standard, and a per-channel autobalance function helps remove offset and maximise dynamic range. Each channel also includes a shunt calibration resistor for strain simulation, integrated IEPE signal conditioning, and support for TEDS Class 1 and Class 2 sensors.

With signal bandwidth greater than 100 kHz, flexible connector options including RJ45 and Lemo 1B, and support for precision bridge and dynamic measurements, the ProDAQ 6716 is well suited to advanced aerospace, industrial, and laboratory test systems where signal integrity and measurement accuracy are critical.
