Overview

The Virtual Instrument Software Architecture (VISA) is a standard for configuring, programming, and debugging data acquisition and test systems using hardware interfaces like Ethernet, USB, PCI Express, GPIB, IEEE1394 or even RS232. The VISA library provides a standardized application programming interface between the hardware and application programming environments like LabVIEW, LabWindows, Visual Basic etc.

The Bustec VISA library is accompanied with tools and interactive utilities as for example the VISA Configuration Utility and VISA Conflict Manager for configuring your instrument setup and access; the Bustec VISA Assistant for direct instrument access and the Bustec VISA Monitor for advanced debugging. By extending the support for the VISA Router to 32-bit systems the Bustec VISA allows you to use multiple VISA installations from different vendors in parallel everywhere.

The Bustec VISA library is 100% compatible to the VISA Standard Rev. 5 maintained by the IVI Foundation (www.ivifoundation.org), guaranteeing operability and interchangeability across different hardware platforms and vendors. As the base I/O library for both the IVI and VXIplug&play driver architectures, bus standards like LXI, VXI and PXI and being a standard across the product lines of all major instrument vendors it ensures that your software development investment will be protected as your instrumentation evolves into the future.
